Stony Lake

Stony Lake is equipped with a gravel boat launch that's ideal for smaller boats, giving you easy access to the lake for fishing, boating, kayaking, and other water activities.

Bearhole lake

    Fishing

    Northern Pike are the primary catch in Stony Lake, making it a highly sought-after destination for anglers. Every spring Quality Lake is stocked with catchable sized rainbow trout. In the nutrient-rich waters of this lake, the trout grow large quite quickly. Bearhole Lake is a great option for a fishing spot close to the town of Tumbler Ridge. The lake contains yellow perch, burbot, rainbow trout, northern pike, large-scale sucker, and white sucker.

    History

    The southern shore of Stony Lake remains virtually unchanged since the 1930s, with visible traces of pioneer efforts to transform slopes into roads using manual tools and equipment such as horses, plows, and shovels. Across the lake there are well preserved remains of the original bridge that crossed the creek. Cultural Heritage: Bearhole Lake is an area of traditional use by First Nations of the Treaty 8 Tribal Association. The Quality Lake trail was built by unemployed local youth with the support of the Tumbler Ridge Chamber of Commerce, Pattern Energy and many local businesses and with provincial Job Creation Program (JCP) funding.
