Skiing
It snowed in Tumbler Ridge on Monday night. The inch or so of snow goes a long way towards hiding the fact that for much of the rest of Monday it had been raining, turning the entire town into a giant icebox, especially the roads. It was not enough snow, though, to groom the Wolverine Nordic trails at the golf course. People interested in skiing around Tumbler Ridge still need to seek higher elevation destinations, where there is snow but no groomed trails. Cold weather and more snow by the weekend might mean that the creeks are skiable, but a lot more snow is needed before the WNMS trails can be groomed.
Snowmobiling
The lower elevation rain translates into higher elevation snow, making the already good riding conditions even better. The core lodge is still the place to go, with Wolverine not far behind. Exposed areas are still being scoured by wind, and lee slopes are still dangerously laden with cornices. More snow is promised throughout the weak, and by the weekend, the temperatures should be down below -20 for the first time in well over a month.
